Detective Senior Sergeant Gregory Moon has been a distinguished member of the NSW Police Force for 34 years and for the past 27 years performed duties as a crime scene investigator involved in the investigation and reporting of serious crime. His current role as a coordinator for forensic operations within the New South Wales Police Force affords him the responsibility for the supervision and deployment of staff across a number of crime scene sections in southern New South Wales, Australia. These sections provide a 24/7 forensic response to major criminal and coronial incidents.

Detective Senior Sergeant Moon commenced initial bloodstain pattern analysis training in 2004 under the tutelage of the late Associate Professor and former Commander of the Forensic Services Group, Doctor Michael (Tony) Raymond. After completing initial training Detective Moon completed advanced training in 2011 and has subsequently been involved at all levels in the education and development of bloodstain pattern analysts across Australia.
He is currently a member of a national working party sponsored by the Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA) to develop a training package in crime scene reconstruction.
Greg has been accepted as an expert in Bloodstain Pattern Analysis in Coronial, District, Supreme and High Courts of Australia and is also recognised as an expert in the Methodology of Crime Scene Investigation by the Australasian Forensic Science Assessment Body. Throughout the last 15 years Detective Senior Sergeant Moon has been involved in several high-profile matters, providing in-depth expert evidence in complex cases regarding bloodstain pattern analysis.
He holds a Diploma in Applied Science in Forensic Investigation from the Canberra Institute of Technology.
