Donald Ray Schuessler

Donald Ray Schuessler
Eugene, OR

August 30, 1951 - January 6, 2022

It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of Donald Schuessler on the evening of January 6th, 2022.   Don is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Kroeger.

Don was a retired Criminalist with the Eugene Police Department, Eugene, Oregon.  After retirement, Don worked for the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office and worked privately as a forensic consultant in a broad field of forensic disciplines, including Fingerprints, Ballistics and Bloodstain Pattern Analysis.

At the first Advanced Institute in Corning, NY (1983), Don was part of the formation of the IABPA, becoming charter member #17 and the IABPA’s first Secretary/Treasurer.  Don brought to Bloodstain Pattern Analysis a very broad spectrum of academic and professional training in forensic disciplines coupled with more than 33 years of experience.  Through the years, Don delivered a number of research papers and case studies at varying IABPA Conferences.

Don also served his community as Mayor, City Administrator and Councilman for the City of Coburg, Oregon.

Don remained an active member of the IABPA and Forensic Consultant until his unexpected death.  Don was known for his sense of humor, positive spirit and, most of all, his ethics and integrity.  The IABPA is a better organization for the contributions made by Donald Schuessler throughout his tenure.

Don will be greatly missed by those who knew and worked with him.

Regrettably,

Brian Kennedy
IABPA Member #66

Sergeant, Sacramento County Sheriff Dept. (Ret.)
