Ragnar is a detective chief inspector with the Reykjavík Metropolitan Police, forensic and crime scene service.  Ragnar has served as a policeman and a detective for thirty three years and has been with the forensic and crime scene service since June 2001.

Ragnar first got introduced to BPA at IPTM, Jacksonville in 2001 during Injury and death investigation course. Ragnar studied basic and advanced courses at the Bloodstain Institute in Corning, NY, 2002 and HCL Institute of Forensic Science, University of New Haven, 2007.  Ragnar has been a member of the Nordic (Scandinavia) BPA group since 2004 and is currently it´s Chairman.  Ragnar is also a member of the Icelandic DVI team since 2014 and is registered as an expert at Cepol, European Police College since 2015.

Ragnar has attended numerous IABPA courses in Europe and USA since 2006. As a guest speaker in Paris 2019, the virtual training conference in 2020 and in San Diego 2022. The Nordic BPA team has had numerous training seminars since 2004 the last being held in Stavern, Norway 2023.
Ragnar is a member of the Association of Crime Scene Reconstruction and is an author of a case study in Techniques of Crime Scene Investigation, 9th edition, July 2022.  Ragnar is the one of the creators and writers of the Icelandic TV series Black Sands (2021-2024) and has been an Icelandic film and tv series advisor since 2004.
